Heat Engine
A heat engine is a device that converts thermal energy into mechanical work, which can then be used to power an aircraft. In aviation, heat engines are commonly used in the form of jet engines, which use the combustion of fuel to generate high-temperature gases that are expelled from the rear of the engine, creating thrust. The efficiency of a heat engine is determined by its ability to convert thermal energy into mechanical work, and is measured by its thermal efficiency. The higher the thermal efficiency, the more work can be extracted from a given amount of thermal energy.
