Inertial Navigation Systems

Inertial Navigation Systems (INS) are a type of navigation system that uses accelerometers and gyroscopes to determine the position, velocity, and attitude of an aircraft. INS is a self-contained system that does not rely on external signals, making it particularly useful in situations where GPS signals may be jammed or unavailable. INS works by measuring the acceleration and rotation of the aircraft and integrating these measurements over time to determine the aircraft's position and velocity. INS can also be used to provide precise attitude information, which is important for aircraft control. INS is commonly used in commercial and military aircraft, as well as in spacecraft.
