Lateral Deviation
Lateral deviation is the distance between the actual flight path of an aircraft and its intended flight path. It is a measure of how much an aircraft has deviated from its intended course laterally. Lateral deviation can be caused by various factors such as wind, turbulence, and pilot error. It is usually measured in nautical miles (NM) or kilometers (KM) and is displayed on the aircraft's navigation display. Pilots use lateral deviation information to make adjustments to the aircraft's heading or course to correct for any deviations and ensure that the aircraft stays on its intended flight path.
