Lateral Stability
Lateral stability is the characteristic of an aircraft to return to its original lateral position after experiencing a disturbance. It is the ability of an aircraft to maintain its equilibrium about the longitudinal axis. Lateral stability is achieved through the use of ailerons, wing sweep, dihedral angle, and other design features. The lateral stability of an aircraft is important for safe and comfortable flight, as it prevents the aircraft from rolling uncontrollably and allows for smooth turns and maneuvers.
