Lift
In aviation, lift is the force that directly opposes the weight of an aircraft and holds it in the air. It is generated by the wings or rotors of the aircraft as they move through the air, creating a difference in air pressure above and below the wing or rotor. The greater the speed of the aircraft, the greater the lift generated. Lift is an essential component of flight and is necessary for an aircraft to become airborne and stay aloft.
