Speed
In aviation, speed refers to the rate at which an aircraft is traveling through the air. It is typically measured in knots or miles per hour (mph). There are several different types of speed that are important in aviation, including indicated airspeed (IAS), true airspeed (TAS), groundspeed (GS), and Mach number. IAS is the speed shown on the aircraft's airspeed indicator, while TAS is IAS corrected for altitude and non-standard temperature. GS is TAS corrected for wind, and Mach number is the ratio of the aircraft's speed to the speed of sound. Speed is a critical factor in flight planning, as it affects fuel consumption, range, and flight time.
