Lightning Strike Protection

Lightning Strike Protection (LSP) is a system designed to protect aircraft from the damaging effects of lightning strikes. LSP systems typically consist of a network of conductive materials, such as copper or aluminum, that are integrated into the aircraft's structure. These materials provide a low-resistance path for lightning current to follow, allowing it to safely dissipate into the ground. In addition to conductive materials, LSP systems may also include surge protectors, which help to prevent damage to sensitive electronic equipment. LSP is an important safety feature for aircraft, as lightning strikes can cause significant damage to critical systems and structures, and can even lead to catastrophic failure.
