Flight Plans
Flight plans are documents filed by pilots or flight dispatchers with the local Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) prior to departure which indicate the planned route or flight path. Flight plans are used to ensure safety and efficiency of air navigation, and to comply with national and international regulations. The information included in a flight plan varies depending on the type of flight and the regulations that apply. Generally, flight plans include information such as the aircraft identification, departure and destination airports, route of flight, altitude, estimated time en route, fuel onboard, and any special instructions or requests. Flight plans are also used by air traffic control to provide separation between aircraft and to facilitate search and rescue operations in case of an emergency.
