Maximum Landing Weight

Maximum Landing Weight (MLW) is the maximum weight at which an aircraft is certified to land. It is determined by structural limitations, such as the maximum load the landing gear can withstand, and performance limitations, such as the maximum speed at which the aircraft can be safely landed. Exceeding the MLW can result in damage to the aircraft, particularly to the landing gear, and can compromise the safety of the flight. Pilots must calculate the weight of the aircraft, taking into account fuel burn and other factors, to ensure that it is below the MLW before landing.
