Multilateration System
Multilateration System is a surveillance technology used in aviation to determine the location of an aircraft by measuring the time difference of arrival (TDOA) of signals transmitted by the aircraft to multiple ground-based receivers. The system uses the TDOA measurements to calculate the aircraft's position and display it on a radar screen. Multilateration system is used as an alternative to traditional radar systems in areas where radar coverage is limited or where radar signals may be blocked by terrain or other obstacles. It is also used in conjunction with radar systems to provide more accurate and reliable surveillance of aircraft in areas with high traffic density or in adverse weather conditions.
