Nitrogen Dioxide

Nitrogen Dioxide (NO2) is a reddish-brown gas with a sharp, biting odor. It is a toxic air pollutant that is emitted from the engines of aircraft and contributes to the formation of smog and acid rain. NO2 is a highly reactive gas that can cause respiratory problems, especially in people with asthma or other lung diseases. In aviation, NO2 emissions are regulated by international organizations such as the International civil aviation organization (ICAO) and the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) to reduce the environmental impact of aviation. Aircraft manufacturers are also developing new technologies to reduce NO2 emissions from aircraft engines.
