Operating Leases

Operating leases are short-term leases that allow airlines to rent aircraft without having to purchase them. The lessor retains ownership of the aircraft and is responsible for maintenance and other associated costs. Operating leases are typically used by airlines to acquire aircraft for a period of less than 10 years. This type of lease provides airlines with flexibility in terms of fleet size and composition, as they can easily return or exchange aircraft at the end of the lease term. Operating leases also allow airlines to avoid the high capital costs associated with purchasing aircraft outright.
