Phosphor Screen
A phosphor screen is a type of screen used in aviation instruments, such as cathode ray tubes (CRTs) and head-up displays (HUDs), to display information to pilots. The screen is coated with a phosphorescent material that emits light when struck by electrons. In aviation, phosphor screens are used to display critical flight information, such as altitude, airspeed, and heading. They are also used in night vision systems to enhance visibility in low light conditions. Phosphor screens have largely been replaced by newer display technologies, such as liquid crystal displays (LCDs) and organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs), but they are still used in some applications where their unique properties are advantageous.
