Power-to-weight Ratio

Power-to-weight ratio is a measure of an aircraft's engine power in relation to its weight. It is calculated by dividing the maximum power output of the engine by the total weight of the aircraft. A high power-to-weight ratio indicates that an aircraft has a better ability to climb, accelerate, and maintain speed. This is particularly important for aircraft that need to take off and land on short runways, such as military fighter jets and small regional planes. A low power-to-weight ratio can result in sluggish performance and longer takeoff and landing distances.
