Radio Frequency Interference

Radio Frequency Interference (RFI) refers to the electromagnetic disturbance that affects the communication and navigation systems of an aircraft. RFI can be caused by various sources such as other electronic devices, atmospheric conditions, and natural phenomena. The interference can result in degraded performance or complete failure of the affected systems, which can compromise the safety of the flight. To mitigate RFI, aircraft are equipped with shielding and filtering devices, and the use of certain electronic devices is restricted during critical phases of flight. Additionally, aviation authorities have established regulations and guidelines to ensure that aircraft and electronic devices comply with the required standards to minimize RFI.
