Refrigerant

In aviation, refrigerant is a substance used in the air conditioning and cooling systems of aircraft. It absorbs heat from the air inside the cabin and releases it outside, thereby cooling the cabin. The most commonly used refrigerant in aviation is R-134a, which is a hydrofluorocarbon (HFC) that does not deplete the ozone layer. However, due to its high global warming potential, efforts are being made to replace it with more environmentally friendly alternatives. Refrigerant leaks can be hazardous to both the passengers and the crew, and therefore, regular maintenance and leak detection are crucial for the safe operation of the aircraft.
