Risk Reduction

Risk reduction is the process of implementing measures to decrease the likelihood and/or severity of potential hazards. In aviation, risk reduction is a critical component of safety management systems (SMS) and is used to identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with flight operations. This process involves analyzing data, identifying potential hazards, assessing the level of risk associated with each hazard, and implementing measures to reduce or eliminate the risk. Risk reduction measures can include changes to procedures, equipment, training, or other factors that may impact safety. Effective risk reduction strategies are essential to maintaining a safe aviation environment.
