RNAV
RNAV stands for Area Navigation. It is a method of navigation that allows an aircraft to fly on any desired flight path within the coverage of ground- or space-based navigation aids or within the limits of the capability of self-contained aids, or a combination of these. RNAV routes and procedures are based on a network of waypoints defined by latitude and longitude coordinates. RNAV systems can be based on ground-based or space-based navigation aids, or a combination of both. RNAV procedures can be designed for departure, arrival, and en-route phases of flight. RNAV has become the primary method of navigation in modern aviation due to its accuracy, flexibility, and efficiency.
