Roscosmos


Roscosmos, officially known as the Roscosmos State Corporation for Space Activities, is the governmental body responsible for the space science program of Russia and general aerospace research. It was established in 1992 and is headquartered in Moscow. Roscosmos conducts various activities related to space exploration, satellite launch, and the operation of manned and unmanned spacecraft. It is known for its long history of space exploration, including the launch of the first artificial satellite, Sputnik, and the first human, Yuri Gagarin, into space. Roscosmos also operates a number of facilities for the launch and control of spacecraft, including the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan, the world's first and largest operational space launch facility. In addition to its space exploration activities, Roscosmos also provides satellite-based services, including Earth observation, telecommunications, and navigation.
