Sparks
Sparks refer to the visible electrical discharges that occur when an aircraft is flying through an area of high static electricity. These discharges can be seen as a bright flash or spark, and are caused by the buildup of static electricity on the surface of the aircraft. Sparks can be dangerous as they can ignite fuel vapors or other flammable materials, and can also interfere with electronic equipment on board the aircraft. To prevent sparks, aircraft are equipped with devices such as static wicks or bonding straps, which help to dissipate the static electricity and prevent it from building up on the surface of the aircraft.
