Spatial Awareness

Spatial awareness is the ability of a pilot to maintain an accurate mental model of their position and movement in relation to the surrounding environment. It involves the integration of sensory information from various sources, such as visual cues, instrument readings, and proprioceptive feedback, to form a coherent picture of the aircraft's location and orientation. Spatial awareness is essential for safe and effective flying, as it enables pilots to navigate, avoid obstacles, and maintain proper altitude and airspeed. Poor spatial awareness can lead to disorientation, spatial disorientation, and loss of control, which are major contributors to aviation accidents.
