Spatial Orientation

Spatial orientation is the ability to maintain a correct body position and posture in space by integrating sensory information from various sources, such as visual, vestibular, and proprioceptive systems. In aviation, spatial orientation refers to the pilot's ability to accurately perceive the aircraft's position, motion, and attitude relative to the earth's surface and other objects in the environment. Spatial disorientation occurs when the pilot's perception of the aircraft's orientation is different from the actual orientation, which can lead to spatial confusion, loss of control, and even accidents. Spatial orientation training is an essential part of pilot training to help pilots develop and maintain their spatial awareness and prevent spatial disorientation.
