Stop Bar Lights

Stop Bar Lights are a series of red lights embedded in the pavement at the hold line of a runway intersection. They are used to indicate to pilots where they should stop and hold short of the runway. The lights are controlled by the Air traffic control tower and are turned on when it is safe for an aircraft to cross or enter the runway. Stop Bar Lights are an important safety feature as they help prevent runway incursions, which occur when an aircraft, vehicle, or person enters the protected area of a runway without authorization.
