Supersonic Aircraft
A supersonic aircraft is an aircraft that can fly faster than the speed of sound, which is approximately 767 miles per hour (1,234 kilometers per hour) at sea level. Supersonic flight is achieved by using powerful engines and aerodynamic designs that can withstand the high temperatures and pressures generated by flying at such high speeds. Supersonic aircraft have been used for military purposes, such as reconnaissance and combat, as well as for civilian purposes, such as transportation and research. The most famous supersonic aircraft is the Concorde, which was in service from 1976 to 2003 and could fly at speeds of up to 1,350 miles per hour (2,170 kilometers per hour).
