Thrust-to-weight Ratio
Thrust-to-weight ratio (TWR) is a measure used in aviation to describe the power-to-weight ratio of an aircraft. It is calculated by dividing the maximum thrust that an aircraft's engines can produce by the aircraft's total weight. A higher TWR indicates a better power-to-weight ratio, which means the aircraft can accelerate faster and climb more quickly. TWR is an important factor in determining an aircraft's performance, especially during takeoff and climb. A high TWR is desirable for military aircraft, as it allows for faster acceleration and better maneuverability. However, for commercial aircraft, a lower TWR is more efficient, as it allows for better fuel economy and longer range.
