Toxic Gases

Toxic gases are gases that can cause harm or death to living beings when inhaled. In aviation, toxic gases can be produced by the engines, auxiliary power units, or other systems on board an aircraft. These gases can enter the cabin through the air conditioning system or other openings, posing a risk to passengers and crew. Common toxic gases found in aircraft include carbon monoxide, ozone, and nitrogen dioxide. To prevent exposure to toxic gases, aircraft are equipped with sensors and alarms that detect and alert the crew to the presence of these gases. Additionally, regular maintenance and inspections are conducted to ensure that the aircraft's systems are functioning properly and not producing harmful gases.
