Transient Voltage Suppressors

Transient Voltage Suppressors (TVS) are electronic devices designed to protect sensitive electronics from voltage spikes and surges. In aviation, TVS are commonly used to protect avionics equipment from voltage transients that can occur during lightning strikes, power surges, or electromagnetic interference. TVS work by clamping the voltage to a safe level and diverting the excess current away from the protected equipment. They are typically installed in parallel with the protected circuit and can be either uni-directional or bi-directional, depending on the application. TVS are an important component in ensuring the reliability and safety of avionics systems.
