Wind Shear
Wind shear is a sudden change in wind speed and/or direction over a short distance within the atmosphere. It can occur at any altitude, but is particularly hazardous during takeoff and landing when the aircraft is close to the ground. Wind shear can be caused by a variety of factors, including thunderstorms, temperature inversions, and frontal boundaries. It can have a significant impact on an aircraft's performance, causing sudden changes in airspeed, altitude, and attitude. Pilots are trained to recognize and respond to wind shear conditions, and airports may have specialized equipment to detect and measure wind shear.
