Zarya And Zvezda Modules
In the context of aviation and space exploration, Zarya and Zvezda are two fundamental modules of the International Space Station (ISS). Zarya, also known as the Functional Cargo Block or FGB, was the first module of the ISS launched in 1998. Built by Russia but funded by the United States, Zarya was designed to provide the station's initial propulsion and power. The module has multiple docking ports to facilitate the attachment of other modules and spacecraft. Zvezda, on the other hand, serves as the service module of the ISS, launched in 2000. It provides living quarters, a life support system, electrical power distribution, data processing systems, flight control systems, and propulsion systems. Zvezda also has two docking ports for Soyuz and Progress spacecraft, and additional ports for expansion modules. Both Zarya and Zvezda are crucial for the operation and habitability of the ISS, serving as the cornerstone for the first human outpost in space.
