Air Superiority

Air Superiority is the degree of dominance in the air battle of one force over another. It is the ability to control the airspace above the battlefield and prevent the enemy from interfering in operations. Air Superiority is achieved by gaining control of the skies through the use of fighter aircraft, surface-to-air missiles, and other air defense systems. It is a critical component of modern warfare, as it allows friendly forces to operate freely and deny the enemy the ability to do the same. Air Superiority is often a prerequisite for successful ground operations, as it enables ground forces to maneuver without fear of enemy air attack.
