Airmen
Airmen are individuals who operate, navigate, or maintain an aircraft. This includes pilots, flight engineers, navigators, and mechanics. Airmen must meet certain qualifications and certifications in order to perform their duties. Pilots, for example, must have a commercial pilot's license and an Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate to fly for an airline. Flight engineers must have a Flight Engineer Certificate and pass a written and practical exam. Navigators must have a Navigator Certificate and pass a written and practical exam. Mechanics must have an Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certificate and pass a written and practical exam. Airmen are responsible for ensuring the safety and efficiency of air travel.
