Altitude Clearance
Altitude clearance is the authorization given by air traffic control to an aircraft to fly at a specific altitude or within a specific altitude range during a specific period of time. This clearance is necessary to ensure safe separation between aircraft and to prevent mid-air collisions. Altitude clearance is usually given in terms of flight level or altitude in feet above mean sea level. Pilots must adhere to the altitude clearance given by air traffic control unless they receive an amended clearance. Failure to comply with altitude clearance can result in a violation of aviation regulations and compromise the safety of the flight.
