Altitude Indicator
An altitude indicator is an instrument used in aircraft to measure the altitude above sea level. It operates based on the principle of static pressure. The instrument consists of a sealed case with an aneroid wafer inside. As the aircraft climbs or descends, the static pressure acting on the aneroid wafer changes, causing the wafer to expand or contract. This movement is then transmitted to the cockpit display, which shows the pilot the current altitude. The altitude indicator is an essential instrument for safe flight, as it allows the pilot to maintain a safe altitude and avoid collisions with other aircraft or terrain.
