Balloons
Balloons are lighter-than-air aircraft that rely on the principle that hot air rises and cold air sinks. They are typically made of nylon or polyester and are filled with heated air or a gas such as helium. Balloons are used for recreational purposes, such as hot air balloon rides, as well as for scientific research and military surveillance. The pilot controls the altitude of the balloon by adjusting the temperature of the air inside the balloon. Balloons are subject to weather conditions and can only fly in calm winds. They are also limited in their ability to maneuver and cannot fly in adverse weather conditions.
