Codeshare Flight
A codeshare flight is a flight operated by one airline but marketed and sold by another airline. In this arrangement, the operating airline is referred to as the operating carrier, while the marketing airline is referred to as the marketing carrier. The marketing carrier sells tickets for the flight under its own airline code, but the flight is actually operated by the operating carrier. Codeshare agreements allow airlines to expand their network and offer more destinations to their customers without having to operate the flights themselves. Passengers benefit from the convenience of booking a single ticket for a journey that involves multiple airlines.
