Descent Phase
In aviation, the descent phase is the portion of a flight during which an aircraft descends from its cruising altitude to its destination airport. This phase begins with the top of descent (TOD) point, which is the point at which the aircraft begins its descent towards the destination airport. Pilots use a combination of engine power, airspeed, and altitude to control the descent rate and ensure a safe landing. During the descent phase, pilots must also communicate with air traffic control to receive landing instructions and ensure that they are following the correct flight path.
