Descent Rate

Descent rate is the rate at which an aircraft descends towards the ground during landing. It is usually measured in feet per minute (fpm) or meters per minute (mpm). The descent rate is an important parameter that pilots must control during landing to ensure a safe touchdown. A high descent rate can result in a hard landing, which can damage the aircraft and injure passengers. On the other hand, a low descent rate can cause the aircraft to float above the runway, which can lead to a runway overshoot or a runway excursion. The descent rate is influenced by various factors such as aircraft weight, wind speed, and runway length.
