Electronic Countermeasures

Electronic Countermeasures (ECM) refers to the use of electronic devices to deceive or disrupt an enemy's electronic systems, including radar, communication, and navigation systems. ECM can be used to protect aircraft from detection or attack by enemy radar or to jam enemy communication systems. There are various types of ECM techniques, including chaff, which is a cloud of small, thin pieces of metal that are released from an aircraft to create a false radar image, and jamming, which involves transmitting a signal on the same frequency as the enemy's radar to disrupt its operation. ECM is an important aspect of modern military aviation and is used to enhance the survivability of aircraft in combat situations.
