Equal Time Point

Equal Time Point (ETP) is a point on a flight route where an aircraft has the option to continue flying to its destination airport or divert to an alternate airport and arrive at the same time as it would have if it had continued to its original destination. ETP is calculated based on the aircraft's current position, its fuel endurance, and the weather conditions along the route. Pilots use ETP to determine the best course of action in case of an emergency or a change in weather conditions that may affect the safety of the flight. ETP is an important concept in aviation safety and planning.
