Flashing

Flashing is a visual signal used by aircraft to communicate with ground personnel or other aircraft. It involves turning on and off the aircraft's lights in a specific pattern or sequence to convey a message. Flashing can be used to indicate a variety of messages such as requesting permission to land, acknowledging a signal, or indicating an emergency situation. The use of flashing is particularly important in low visibility conditions or at night when visual communication is the primary means of communication. In addition to the standard lights on an aircraft, some aircraft are equipped with special flashing lights that are used specifically for communication purposes.
