Greenhouse Gases
Greenhouse gases are gases that trap heat in the Earth's atmosphere and contribute to the greenhouse effect. In aviation, the main greenhouse gases are carbon dioxide (CO2), water vapor (H2O), methane (CH4), and nitrous oxide (N2O). Aircraft engines emit these gases as a result of burning fuel. The aviation industry is responsible for approximately 2% of global greenhouse gas emissions, and efforts are being made to reduce this impact through the use of alternative fuels, more efficient aircraft designs, and operational improvements.
