Hearing Damage
Hearing damage refers to the permanent or temporary loss of hearing ability due to exposure to loud noise or sound. In aviation, hearing damage is a common occupational hazard for pilots, cabin crew, and ground personnel who are exposed to high levels of noise from aircraft engines, equipment, and other sources. Prolonged exposure to noise levels above 85 decibels can cause hearing damage, which can lead to communication difficulties, reduced situational awareness, and increased risk of accidents. To prevent hearing damage, aviation professionals are required to wear hearing protection devices such as earplugs or earmuffs when working in noisy environments.
