Runway Incursions

Runway incursions refer to any occurrence at an aerodrome involving the incorrect presence of an aircraft, vehicle, or person on the protected area of a surface designated for the landing and takeoff of aircraft. This includes situations where an aircraft, vehicle, or person enters a runway without authorization, or when two or more aircraft, vehicles, or persons are on a runway at the same time. Runway incursions can be caused by a variety of factors, including miscommunication, human error, and equipment malfunction. They are a serious safety concern in aviation and can lead to accidents and incidents with potentially catastrophic consequences.
