ICAO Airline Designators
ICAO Airline Designators are unique identifiers assigned by the International civil aviation organization (ICAO) to each airline for use in international aviation operations. These designators are composed of two or three alphanumeric characters and are used for air traffic control and airline operations such as flight planning, scheduling, and ticketing. The designators are essential for ensuring efficient and safe operations in the global aviation system. They are used in flight plans and air traffic control systems to identify airlines, their aircraft, and their routes. The ICAO assigns these designators based on applications from airlines, and they are published in ICAO Document 8585: Designators for Aircraft Operating Agencies, Aeronautical Authorities and Services. The designators are updated regularly to reflect changes in the aviation industry, such as the establishment of new airlines or changes in existing airlines' operations. The use of ICAO Airline Designators is mandatory in all international aviation operations, and they are recognized and used by all member states of the ICAO.
