ICAO stands for International Civil aviation Organization, a specialized agency of the United Nations that was created to promote the safe and orderly development of international civil aviation throughout the world. ICAO sets standards and regulations necessary for aviation safety, security, efficiency, and regularity, as well as for environmental protection. It also provides technical assistance and training to its member states and works with other international organizations to achieve its objectives. ICAO is headquartered in Montreal, Canada and has 193 member states.
