Inertial Sensor

An inertial sensor is an electronic device that measures and reports a body's specific force, angular rate, and sometimes the magnetic field surrounding the body, using a combination of accelerometers and gyroscopes. In aviation, inertial sensors are used in navigation systems to determine an aircraft's position, velocity, and attitude relative to the earth. They are particularly useful in situations where GPS signals are unavailable or unreliable, such as in remote areas or during periods of high solar activity. Inertial sensors are also used in flight simulators to provide realistic motion cues to pilots.
