Instrument Landing System

Instrument Landing System (ILS) is a ground-based navigation system that provides precision guidance to an aircraft approaching and landing on a runway. It consists of two main components: the localizer and the glide slope. The localizer provides lateral guidance, ensuring that the aircraft is aligned with the centerline of the runway. The glide slope provides vertical guidance, ensuring that the aircraft is descending at the correct angle to land safely. ILS is essential for safe and efficient landing operations, especially in adverse weather conditions such as low visibility or strong crosswinds.
