Jet Stream
Jet stream is a narrow, fast-moving air current found in the atmosphere at around 30,000 feet above the surface of the Earth. It flows from west to east and can reach speeds of up to 250 mph. Jet streams are caused by the difference in temperature between the polar and tropical air masses. They have a significant impact on aviation, as they can either help or hinder the progress of an aircraft. Pilots often use jet streams to their advantage by flying with the tailwind to save fuel and time. However, flying against the jet stream can result in longer flight times and increased fuel consumption.
