Jet Streams

Jet streams are fast flowing, narrow air currents found in the atmosphere at around 9-16 km above the Earth's surface. They are caused by a combination of atmospheric heating, the Earth's rotation, and the differences in air pressure between the equator and the poles. Jet streams can have a significant impact on aviation, as they can either help or hinder the speed and direction of aircraft. Pilots often use jet streams to their advantage by flying with the tailwind to save fuel and time. However, flying against a strong headwind can increase fuel consumption and flight time. Jet streams can also cause turbulence and affect the stability of the aircraft.
