Line Of Sight Operations

In the context of aviation, Line Of Sight Operations refers to the operational requirement that the pilot or operator of an unmanned aircraft system (UAS) must be able to see the aircraft with vision unaided by any device other than corrective lenses. This is a fundamental requirement for safe operation, ensuring that the operator can maintain control of the aircraft, avoid other aircraft or obstacles, and respond appropriately to emergencies. The operator must be able to see the aircraft well enough to control its flight path, monitor its performance, and avoid collisions with other aircraft or ground obstacles. The line of sight must be maintained throughout the entire flight operation. In some cases, a visual observer may be used to maintain the line of sight while the operator controls the aircraft. However, the operator is still ultimately responsible for the safe operation of the aircraft.
